A New Approach for Reactive Power Control of Single Phase Transformerless Inverter to Modify Power Quality in Stand Alone Micro-Grids with Current Leakage Elimination

Authors

Abstract:

Nowadays there has been an increasing interest in transformerless inverter for grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) system due to low cost, high efficiency and light weight. One of the reasons describe the grid behavior is capability of reactive power control by inverter. According to the standard VDE-AR-N 4105, grid-tied PV inverter of power rating below 3.68KVA, should attain power factor (PF) from 0.95 leading to 0.95 lagging. Thus this paper present a new topology with ability to eliminate common mode leakage current and do power factor correction. The generation and extinction of this current is analyzed. It’s nice to say that non of open loop structure presented so far, can control the reactive power individualy without any controller. So here a new approach based on proportional – resonant controller with fast response is expressed. Simulations done with active load and RL load show the excellent performance of proposed algorithm. Then proposed inverter with 98 % efficiency is compared with H5, H6 and HERIC inverters.

A Grid Connected Transformerless Inverter and its Model Predictive Control Strategy with Leakage Current Elimination Capability

This paper proposes a new single phase transformerless Photovoltaic (PV) inverter for grid connected systems. It consists of six power switches, two diodes, one capacitor and filter at the output stage. The neutral of the grid is directly connected to the negative terminal of the source. This results in constant common mode voltage and zero leakage current. Model Predictive Controller (MPC) tec...

A New Control Method for Single-Phase Grid-Connected Inverter Using Instantaneous Power Theory

Because of installation for local consumers and since it is free of all contaminations, connecting photovoltaic cells to the grid via single-phase inverter is significantly on the rise. In this paper, a new simple current control is proposed for a single-phase grid-connected voltage source inverter. Using the PQ theory and modelling a single-phase system as an unbalanced three-phase system, a m...

Reactive Power Sharing and Harmonic Voltage Modification in Single Phase Island Micro-Grid with Drop Control

Abstract: When several parallel inverters are in islands operating mode, the droop control scheme is usually used to control the inverters. The droop control method enables the inverters of a Micro-Grid to control the voltage and frequency of the network in a decentralized regulation behavior. The drop control method also enables the inverters to share the required active and reactive powers of...

A New Pulsating Power Elimination Method for Single-Phase PWM AC/DC Converters with Minimum Voltage and Current Stress

An inherent problem of single-phase rectifiers is the existence of a pulsating portion in the input power, which pulsates at twice the grid frequency. If this pulsating power is transferred to the DC-link, it causes a significant amount of second-order harmonic at the output voltage. Since in many applications, such a high level of DC oscillation is not acceptable, so the pulsating power must b...

A New Single-phase Symmetrical Cascade Multilevel Inverter with Low Number of Power Switches

In this paper a new 5-level single phase symmetrical cascade multi-level inverter is proposed. The proposed topology contains combination of unidirectional and bidirectional power switches based on output voltage level number. The number of power switches and withstanding voltage of powers witches were reduced related to the other topologies. This configuration can be extended to the n-level in...

Design of A Single-Phase Transformerless Grid-Connected PV Inverter ‎Considering Reduced Leakage Current and LVRT Grid Codes

A new single-phase transformerless grid-connected PV inverter is presented in this paper. Investigations in transformerless grid-connected PV inverters indicate the existence of the leakage current is directly related to the variable common-mode voltage (CMV), which is presented in detail. On the other hand, in recent years it has become mandatory for the transformerless grid-connected PV inver...
